Government to set up 660 Crises & Response Centres for violence affected women


The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has proposed to establish a adequately equipped crises and response Centres to assist and support women affected by violence, at 660 locations across the country.

The Centers are expected to facilitate medical aid and police assistance, provide legal counseling/court case management, psycho-social counseling and temporary shelter, if required.

Adequate funds are proposed to be provided through the Nirbhaya Fund. Related and relevant training and other programmes of the States will be suitably incorporated.

This information was given by Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Union Minister of Women and Child Development in reply to a starred question in Lok Sabha recently.
